Running head: ETHICAL
DECISION-MAKING
Introduction
In the practice of psychology, practitioners are faced
with dilemmas brought about clients divulging information to them. Such
information is protected by the doctor- client confidentiality and is unethical
to divulge it to other persons without breaching this clause. A case of a
client revealing that he participated in a robbery places the practitioner in a
dilemma as to whether to report the matter to the authorities or not. This
paper will apply 14 ethical steps developed by Pope and Vasquez (2007, 3rd
edition) in trying to reach an ethical decision.
