Abstract
William Blake is one of England’s most eminent literary
figures. He is remembered and admired for his skill as a painter and poet.
Blake is one of the major Romantic artists, whose artwork became part of the
wider movement of Romanticism in late Eighteenth and early Nineteenth century
in European Culture. William Blake's art and ideas represent a tested vision of
life. Especially today, with our neo-Romantic renewal of interest in artistic,
emotional, visionary, and transcendental views of reality, Blake's works blaze
forth with extraordinary depth and ability to inspire. In the Twentieth
century, Blake has been recognized as a highly original and important artist
and as a member of an enduring tradition of visionary artists and philosophers,
an individualist, a libertarian, and an uncompromising critic of orthodoxy and
authoritarianism.
