Sexual
Morality in “The Confessions of St.
Augustine”
The topic of sex
has been an interesting and controversial subject for hundreds of years.
Everyone has their own views and opinions, including the church. St. Augustine is a scholar
who helped shape the views of the Roman Catholic Church on this matter. In his
book, The Confessions of Saint Augustine,
he writes about his personal experience with sexual intercourse, and whether or
not he believes it to be a sin. Saint
Augustine wrote about his views on sex in the fourth
century and it is still debated today.
I found two
very interesting articles from the Journal
of Religious Ethics dealing with Augustine’s view of sex and how it relates
to today
