The project examines the practice of searching inmates, cells and visitors for the purpose of controlling drugs and other items of contraband. People have been quite creative in their efforts to get drugs inside prisons; a Canadian prison warden states that intercepting drugs and items that can be made into weapons is the greatest security problem in the Canadian prison system.
