INTRODUCTION
Sociolinguistics
is a branch which studies the effects of social aspects over language. We can
see a wide variety of different types of talking when we pay attention to
people around. These differences in speech might occur not only from the
attitude to the person/people we are talking to, the situation and place we are
in, but also from speaker’s and listener’s knowledge of language, social class,
etc.
Sociolinguistics
and sociology of language are accepted as if they were the same. However,
sociolinguistics differs from sociology of language in the way that the focus
of sociolinguistics is the effect of the society on language, while the
latter’s focus is on the language’s effect on the society. It can be seen that
they are opposite of each other.
