Perception
and Emotions
Perception, and the emotions tied to it, is
more often than not the greatest cause of miscommunication in everyday life; no
place more so than in the workplace. The
workplace is by far the single most common place for human interaction. As employers and employees often come from
vastly different socio-economic backgrounds, even within their own groups,
misunderstandings are inevitable. We
must consign ourselves to minimizing and managing often-contradictory points of
view. Since reality is often subjective,
and largely dependent on an individual’s point of view; it is easier to change
one’s own opinion than to change others.
With cooperation and a little bit of effort on both sides of a misunderstanding,
problems can be mitigated.
