INTRODUCTION
The Amazon Kindle is a wireless
reading device from which the user has the ability to read books, magazines,
newspapers, and blogs. Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) states the Kindle is “Reading
Refined” (Amazon, 2009). In less than two years, analysts have predicted that
Amazon has sold half a million of these devices (Brey, 2009). The Kindle 2
debuted February 24, 2009, replacing the introductory model with upgraded
features including an increased battery life, faster processor, and lighter
weight design. The $359 device is available strictly through their website. For
Kindle owners to stock their devices with reading material, Amazon offers books
at around $9.99 at title, national newspapers starting at $5.99 a month and
popular magazines starting at $1.25 a month (Amazon.com).
