Paper Abstract
A 5 page paper which discusses the development of monotheism in many different cultures around the globe. While it is often thought that monotheism is the result of the development of religion, the chances are much greater that monotheism was more directly developed through government and pure human reasoning. Polytheism was predominantly a form of religion which resulted from the lack of knowledge people had about their surrounding environment. As knowledge grew, many gods were no longer needed. Perhaps religion stepped in and took advantage of the situation, but it did not develop the idea of monotheism. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
