(Intro) Home Improvement, or just Lowe’s, was founded
in 1946 by H. Carl Buchan. At this time
Lowe’s was the typical 1940s hardware store selling everything from utility
clothing to tools, and even farming and plow horse supplies; since then Lowe’s
has grown to be the second largest home improvement retailer in the world and
ranks 9th in the United States (Lowes.com, 2008).Â
