Abstract
The issue of
legalizing marijuana is intense after the passing of the Marijuana Tax Act of
1937, which debarred marijuana use in the United States. In August 1996, the
foremost controversial concern which highlighted in the news was prescribing marijuana
for medical purposes (CNN). The
Marijuana is known to be an oldest psychoactive plant in the universe. The
present paper provides an argumentative synthesis of legalization of marijuana
in the United States.
During 1960s and 1970s, middle-class people were inclined towards marijuana and
accepted it for enjoyment and using to get relief from various health problems.
Since then many proponent viewed that marijuana should not be categorized under
narcotics and laws must be liberal for the consumption of marijuana. There are
many facts found about marijuana that it is beneficial for alleviating the
distress of great numbers of prolonged ill people, and it is harmless to
consume under medical supervision (Young, 1998).
