It is estimated
that nearly 69 million Americans over the age of 12, including our 42nd
president Bill Clinton, have tried marijuana at least once (paranoia.lycaeum.org 10/3/07).
Marijuana is illegal in many countries and the basis of religious doctrine in
others. It has been the subject of movies, songs, books, protests, debates, and
rebellions. It is recreation, inspiration, and medication for some and an
obsession for others. Many go to jail for it, fight wars over it, grow it,
smoke it, and yes, even stick it into deep recesses of their bodies, to get it
past inconvenient customs lines. This is marijuana, and it should be legal in
the United States.
