Paper Abstract
This 16 page paper is written in 2 parts, both of which consider the role of leadership. Looking at the banking industry the first part of the paper chooses a banking company; Washington Mutual, and how the leadership has responded to changes in the industry and the challenges leadership faces. This is explored through the use of a PESTLE model looking at the political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental factors. The second part of the paper then considers the leadership style of a (fictitious) manager, looking at both the autocratic and democratic skills they may have and considering how these may manifest in everyday work.
