Introduction:
Iqbal was a keen thinker and
philosopher he is not only concerned with remote issues and speculations which
have no relation with the present problems, but he with his intellectual
approach touches the core problems relating to individual and collective life
of man.
Iqbal holds that
our main concern should not only be to concentrate our energies on our needs
and necessities but living in the community we should pay due regard to our
fellow brother.
Although he has not given, as we can’t expect a poet to give, any
definite educational technique or method, but instead he has done far more
valuable and significant task by directing our attention to those basic and
fundamental principles of education which underlie all sound educational
practices. And it is interesting to see that when the practical implications of
these principles are observed, they may be found in complete harmony which
other educationists have expressed about the problems of schooling. The fact
remains that every age has its special needs, urgencies and characteristics
which demands a certain pattern of educational orientation for realizing those
basic principles.
A careful
analysis of his ideas in this study present some principles which if adopted
and fallowed may help in the solution of man’s problems. It’s through education
that the ideas of Iqbal will influence the life of the Muslims nation.
Poetry is by its nature, a much more elusive and sensitive medium of
expression than prose, it has great emotional zeal and can beautifully convey
subtler shades of emotion and ideas. But it does not possess the same
objectivity or precision of thought as a piece of careful, systemic and studied
prose contains.
Poetry often
obscures intellectual clarity but if his poetry is studied with concentration
and its meaning understood, there emerges a clear and lucid thought out of his
poetic magic. And we can clearly comprehend his educational philosophy which is
hidden mainly in his verses in the form of advices and moral lessons to the
Muslims nation.
To Iqbal, poetry is the main weapon for conveying his message to his
people.
O Men of vision! It is good to have an eye for beauty.
But the eye that perceives not reality has no vision!
Art yearns for the immortal life.
And not for this fleeting breath, transitory like the spark!
O spring rain, the shell and the pearl are both worthless,
If they do not throw the heart of the river into a ferment!
Nations of the world do not revive without miracles,
And art is dead if it lacks the vaguer of Moses’ stroke.
