It is easy to assume the criminal justice
system is a vehicle for oppression when you are on the prosecution end of the
criminal justice system. Some people hate the system and all the control it
has, but the system was put in place to protect the individuals that abide by
the law. The laws were put in place by our fore fathers to establish control an
order. The system is fair to all individuals that are charged with a crime but
undoubtedly the main consequence of a criminal trial is to find the individual
innocent or guilty and if found guilty the consequences of their crime. Laws
are not only put in place to prosecute the guilty they also provide protection
for the innocent.
Criminal law is made up of two main functions. The first
function is the prosecution of a person for a criminal act that has been
committed in violation of state or local laws. When an individual breaks the
law they are subject to criminal prosecution. If found guilty of their offence
the criminal may be subject to punishments imposed by the court. The same legal
system that prosecutes the criminals for their crimes also protect the innocent
from being victims of ….
