Abstract
The aim of this paper is to discuss the impact of external and
internal factors on Marks and Spencer contrast the organisations response to
change in technology. The first part of the paper elaborates the primary
internal and external influences of Marks and Spencer. It presents an internal
and external analysis of the organization and discusses several factors under
this category. The paper addresses some internal and external variable such as
political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental issues may
emerge from its external environment. Internal influences or factors may emerge
from customer services; shopping environment; manager training; clothing lack;
stock control; waste store spaces etc. of M&S are discussed elaborately in Part-A
of the report.
The second section of the paper (Part-B) discusses the change
in technology theme relating to Marks and Spencer. It analyzes
how technological change can influence the policies and decision making of
M&S. Technological factors such as, effective supply chain management,
E-commerce adoption, has been elaborated. The paper also demonstrated the
effectiveness of M&S’s response, in relation to
the change in technology. The report concluded by demonstrating some areas of
improvement for Marks and Spencer in their response to technological changes.

textbooks, websites and magazines were investigated intensively.
Scope
The report investigates the primary internal and external
influences to which the organization is subject. The paper focuses to analyze
how change in technology can influence the policies and decision making of
Marks and Spencer. It aims to critically evaluate the effectiveness of M&S’s response to change in technology. Finally the
paper demonstrates some areas for improvement in the response of the
organization.
