Paper Abstract
An 11 page paper discussing the epidemiology, pathophysiology of burns, as well as clinical issues involved in care of them. High-acuity nursing is more intensive and far more costly than other types of care, and it generally is reserved for those cases requiring either more advanced or more intricate techniques. This paper reviews three articles reporting on nursing research while also addressing the personal and financial costs of burns. It includes the case of Ms. Pierce, severely burned as a child who was able to successfully complete a pregnancy despite the inelastic nature of her burned skin. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
