Mythology is the study of myths and myths are stories about
supernatural beings. Myths attempt to explain such things as of nature, the
experience of man, and the characteristics of the gods. Myths about Hades, Charon, and the Underworld explained to the Greeks both
where a mortal went after he died and how he was transported to that place.
Cerberus, Hades, Charon, and the Underworld all have something in common and
are all important to Greek mythology.
