The
Consequences of Global Warming
Global warming is
defined as a steady increase of earth’s temperature, resulting from the rising
amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the environment. While the definition is
simple, the purported causes of global warming are not. The most commonly
accepted cause of global warming is air pollution which comes from the gas
emissions produced by certain human activities. Some of these activities
include industrial processes and involve methods of transportation. If left unresolved, the scientific community
predicts that global warming will have devastating consequences on the earth as
a whole.
           Scientific
experts have reached the conclusion that certain consequences with regard to
global warming are now unavoidable. If all carbon emissions were to cease as of
right now the estimated effects would be a rise in temperature of between 3
degrees and 7 degrees Celsius within this next century. This increase in
temperature may at first seem rather benign, but when coupled with certain
ecological disasters that will result, it becomes quite a malignant problem
(Brilliant 173-174).
