Abstract
A 30 page paper on nutrition and its effect on heart disease.
Heart disease is the number one cause of premature deaths in Western
society. Millions of people are affected with this disease every year and are a
huge burden on the government, which subsidises treatments, research, drugs and
hospital care. There is a growing awareness of the important role nutrition
plays in its effect on increasing or decreasing the risk of this disease.
Several nutrients have been studied to reveal the mechanism by which they
operate and effect heart health. An alternative snack, LeSnak,
has been developed and due to its functional ingredients can be a healthy food
choice for the consumer.
