Paper Abstract
A 5 page essay on the philosophy of Rene Descartes, the seventeenth-century French philosopher whose revolutionary perspective on the epistemology of knowledge destabilized the traditional (i.e., medieval) ways of regarding the natural world and thereby ushered in the "modern" scientific age. The writer argues that Descartes saw that that there had to be a firm foundation on which to base knowledge. In his book, Meditations on the First Philosophy, Descartes laid out the parameters for rational foundationalism. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
