Nursing
Salaries
It is commonly known that salaries,
regardless of occupation, may vary widely across the United States. In the case of Registered Nurses, salaries
are usually highest in the Northwest region and lowest in the Southeast region
(Lacey & Nooney, 2006). However, once wages are adjusted for the
local cost of living, states that have the highest absolute salaries often move
down the rankings while states with the lowest absolute salaries often move up
the list. A common belief is that one
way to increase one’s paycheck is to change geographic location. The article referenced in this paper seeks to
determine whether this belief is true or not as it pertains to nursing
salaries.Â
