Humans as a
species have always relied on socialization; not only for survival, but also to
develop and maintain relationships that satisfy our need to exchange
information, build bonds and communicate with one another. Romantic
relationships especially can be described as the zenith of communicational
relationships, with partners sharing extensively in almost every aspect of each
others’ lives, exchanging all varieties of intimate communication and
expression of affection from verbal to physical. Intimate communication can
range from disclosing personal information about oneself, and physical
expression ranges from basic gestures such as hugging to sexualized behavior.
