Child
Molestation/Abuse
The
terms child sexual abuse and molestation are blanket terms that refer to the
criminal act of an adult engaging in activity of a sexual nature with an
underage child for the purpose of their own sexual satisfaction. Since 1973, child
molestation has been a recognized form of maltreatment under United States federal law.
Additionally, it is illegal as set forth by laws in all of the fifty states.
The particulars of these laws vary by state, but are generally the same as far
as what constitutes sexual abuse of children.
