Abstract
Why do the
bourgeoisie audaciously hand over the means for their own destruction to the
middle classes? The bourgeoisie know
just as well as anyone that the time of the middle classes is waning. Soon, they will add to the upper class’s
capital with, “their impending transfer into the
proletariat.” (Gasper 54). Without the dangerous edge of men with
nothing to lose, the middle classes can never become anything more than a group
struggling to sustain itself. The role
of forward progression belongs to the proletariat. Thus, the middle classes are tragically
incapable of utilizing their given capabilities.
