“The Italian Renaissance”
Introduction
The Italian Renaissance (1420-1600), was
arguably the most progressive period in the history of art. For the sake of
this discussion it would be remiss not to mention the term “Renaissance”,
translates ‘rebirth’ in several languages, for the Renaissance Movement in itself
was much broader in terms of global scale than most often perceived. The idea
of rebirth as it pertains to this movement is symbolic of the many great
artistic and architectural achievements made throughout the era (Nelson, 2007).
