An Examination of Chicano English
From La Bamba to Los Lobos, from zoot
suits to low riders, Chicanos in America
have contributed to a distinct United
States culture. The Chicano culture has its’ own history,
expressiveness, ceremonies and of course language. Chicano linguistics is unique and distinct as
it differs from both Standard Spanish and Standard English. Chicano English is
indeed its own dialect. To better
understand is new and unique American dialect; one must understand the
historical roots that helped to create are uniqueness as well as the phonetic
structure of the dialect.
