           The rules of the three strikes and
you’re out policy are terrible and should not be allowed in this country. This policy was implemented to originally
toughen sentences for target repeat offenders and if they are convicted of a
crime three times, he or she receives a mandatory life sentence. I agree that this law is a terrible
punishment for crime because it leads non-violent offenders to a life sentence
if they commit three crimes no matter the severity of the crime. This is why our country’s prison system is
facing substantial inmate overcrowding issues today.Â
