In the movie The Graduate,
Benjamin Braddock is a newly graduated college student with no set plan or idea
where he wants to go with his life, or what he wants to do. He quickly moves
into an affair with a married woman, and continues to go no where with his
life. Then he meets a girl that changes his view of his life. She shows him
what he wants and gives him a purpose. And he learns about the reality of the
choices we make have an effect on our lives.
Through clever camera shots, an excellent
cast, a superb written screenplay, a superior soundtrack, we get a glimpse into
the rebellious generation of the 1960’s. This movie might not appeal to modern
day audiences, if taken at face-value. But if they realize the underlying
message of the film, I believe they would enjoy it. The Graduate is
easily comparable to movies of more recent release. If movie-goers appreciate
well-made movies then I highly recommend The Graduate.
