A False Confidence in Western Science: An Exploration of the Flexibility and Changing Paradigms within the World of Scientific Discovery
(7 Pages, 83.65 $ (USD) )
This is a 7 page paper discussing the false confidence modern man should have in the proven “realities” of Western science. While modern day scientists seem confident in providing “proven” scientific discoveries and conclusions, historical evidence would seem to provide an alternative scenario which would show that man should have little if any confidence in the science or the technologies of his generation. Throughout history, science has been considered as studying reality which was formerly the place of religion. Western scientists in particular separated science from religion and held Western science in high regard. Western science and the discoveries within it have relied a great deal on the technologies from the East which are now considered as traditional. Despite the confidence in science, historical analyses show that most theories shift over time and old theories are discarded as new ones are used as a result of paradigm shift in scientific thought. Even within the field of physics which seeks to simplify the components of nature, it is not accepted that everything can be explained. Society’s “faith” in science differs a great deal as some scientists continue to believe that certain “realities” can be proven while others are again looking at how flexible the “realities” in science are now and will continue to be. Teaching High School Science
(7 Pages, 83.65 $ (USD) )
A 7 page paper that represents a college student's ability to blend theory with practice. This essay begins by identifying two themes that emerged from both the literature and coursework - students have different learning styles and science curriculum and methods of teaching need to change. The essay discusses why science education needs to change with an emphasis on secondary schools. The paper identifies the courses the student enjoyed the most and relates that to the literature on the need for the active engagement of students with the curriculum and materials. Gardner's multiple intelligences theory is outlined with an example of a science teacher who used this framework. This is also related to theory and practice in teaching science. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Analysis of Emile Durkheim’s “Suicide: A Study in Sociology” Using Primary and Secondary Sources
(10 Pages, 119.5 $ (USD) )
This is a 10 page paper discussing Emile Durkheim’s text “Suicide: A Study in Sociology”. Emile Durkheim’s text “Suicide: A Study in Sociology” (1897) was considered one of the first studies in the social sciences which used a purely scientific and methodological approach to study a social phenomenon. Suicide, for the large part, previously was considered an individual act focused upon mainly by psychologists. Durkheim however related the individual act of suicide to the cohesiveness or imbalance within society. According to Durkheim, during the age of industrialization throughout the 1800s, the incidence of suicides increased as a result of the demise of the traditional social institutions such as the church and social guilds which could not be replaced by the goals of wealth and the division of labor. Suicides were the result of an imbalance of two major social forces: social integration and moral regulation. Durkheim’s focus on the influence of social forces on the individual was highly controversial during his time as it undermined the concepts of “free will and individual moral agency”. Nevertheless, Durkheim managed to establish sociology and the social sciences as one of the major areas of study within France and his theories and methods are still considered significant in contemporary sociology, more than a century later. Comparison and Contrast of Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods Including Quality, Credibility, Reliability, Validity and Analysis
(20 Pages, 239 $ (USD) )
This is a 20 page paper comparing and contrasting qualitative and quantitative research methods. Qualitative research methods are considerably different from those of quantitative research methods. Qualitative research methods are considered to be more dynamic, interactive and holistic in their approach than quantitative methods which are considered more deductive in their reasoning, objective in their observations, more defined and static in their collection, analysis and reporting. While qualitative methods provide for more narrative and detailed reports of certain phenomenon, quantitative methods allow for the study of larger populations and therefore can allow for more generalizations about a phenomenon. Whichever method is used for a particular study, researchers agree that the method should be appropriate for the subject being studied. Largely, quantitative methods are used in the physical sciences whereas studies in the social sciences lean toward qualitative methods or a combination of both research methods. Both methods are also supported by different aspects of quality, credibility, reliability and validity throughout their methodology. Bibliography lists 22 sources.

The State of the Discipline of Political Science
(7 Pages, 83.65 $ (USD) )
This is a 7 page paper discussing the state of the discipline of political science. Since the time of Aristotle, political science has been a discipline that has been used to study man and the state. Originally political science was based on philosophical theory much of it which was based on man’s natural knowledge. Within the last two centuries, political science has continued to study philosophy based on the state and the study of constitutional government. Within the last fifty years however, the discipline has been severed into various areas, the most published of which is that which leans towards a more “scientific” approach involving quantitative research. Leo Strauss recognized the development of this trend and tried to warn against it in the 1950s trying to bring the discipline back toward a broader philosophical approach. Many political scientists today also believe that in order to preserve the discipline a broader more historical philosophical approach should be used in which other cross disciplines should be included rather than subdividing the discipline further in an attempt to gain academic recognition. The Unconscious Adoption of Religion by Second Generations
(5 Pages, 59.75 $ (USD) )
This is a 5 page paper discussing the adoption of religion in children and their unconscious awareness of its adoption and association with identity. Religious identity and thought have been studied by many disciplines within the social sciences, sciences and arts. In all aspects it is believed that religion is one of the few elements learned in childhood that is the most commonly continued or retained into adulthood. Although religious thoughts and rituals may be consciously taught by the family and the community and are considered a major aspect of one’s identity and self, it is also believed that much of this religious shaping is picked up unconsciously by the child.
