Time Warner, News Corporation, Vivendi
(26 Pages, 310.7 USD)
This 26 page paper focuses on these three media conglomerates. Today's global media is dominated by eight or nine companies, which gives these companies significant influence and power in all aspects of the society, including politics. Four questions are explored: the breadth of the companies, their influence, the FCC's role in their growth, and where they obtain the news they report. Selected fiscal data are reported for these three plus two other media conglomerates to offer a comparison of revenues. Each corporation is then described, including the types of companies they own. The effects of media conglomerates are then reported and discussed. The writer comments on the role of the FCC in their growth and demonstrates a conflict of interest. Conclusions related to the four questions posed are then made. 1 Table is included. Bibliography lists 26 sources.

(9 Pages, 107.55 USD)
This is a 9 page paper discussing cultural industries and their importance. Cultural or culture industries are considered those within a region or country which are based on the creative, cultural, and popular markets of books, magazines, films, videos, multimedia and other products which are distributed on a worldwide basis. Cultural industries not only highlight the cultural diversity of a country but also are considerably important in the economy of each country as well. Since globalization and the deregulation of many restrictive policies, the distribution opportunities available for cultural industries has increased dramatically over the past decade and also expanded to include a shift in industry with more multimedia and electronic-based products. Because of globalization however, many regions fear that their cultural industries are threatened by conglomerates and has resulted in the formation of several organizations which focus on the development, maintenance, and protection of cultural industries. Employment and Labor Relations in South Korea and Taiwan
(5 Pages, 59.75 USD)
This is a 5 page paper discussing the employment relations practices in South Korea and Taiwan. South Korea and Taiwan have slowly progressed towards becoming countries with high industrialization and have become significant players on the world markets. Within each country however exists slightly different aspects of employment and labor relations which have led to the satisfaction or dissatisfaction of their employees. In South Korea, labor struggles exist between the state, the family run conglomerates called chaebols and the labor unions. Although South Korea provides competitive employee packages, the conflict between the three groups has led to a recent general strike and relations were further inflamed in 1996 when the government passed legislation which would allow more strength on the behalf of the employers not the workers. Taiwan, on the other hand also has family run businesses and labor unions but the state’s participation is a large aspect of their employment relations and industrial success. Because of this cooperation between the three groups within the employment sector, the workers in Taiwan are provided with education, health and social services as well as enjoying some of the most competitive salaries and benefits in Asia and employment relations remain positive. Bibliography lists 11 sources.
